Service Description
Navigate II - III rapids in an oar raft, challenging yourself to make moves to practice skills in a supportive and safety oriented group setting. This class is appropriate for folks with a prerequisite of solid class III skills who are ready to challenge themselves to progress. Learn to: Identify and use whitewater features: holes, pour overs, waves, eddies. Avoid river hazards: undercuts, strainers, recirculating hydraulics. Become familiar with oar rafting equipment including day frames vs overnight frame set ups. Become familiar with the river environment including boat ramp etiquette and group boating. Maneuver an oar raft, learning when to use push and pull strokes. Maneuver an oar raft at a ferry angle and at an angle to avoid obstacles. Row using safe and effective techniques and proper body mechanics. Use basic safety and rescue skills. ACA Curriculum "Level 4: Whitewater Rafting- Oar" Skills Course Participants bring their own raft with frame and oars. Rentals are available on a first come first serve basis for an additional $100. Participants using a rental boat will pay a total course fee of $300. Course venue is on the Illinois River (day stretch) and will be finalized one week prior to start date. Backup venue in the event of high water is the Smith River drainage.

Cancelation Policy
If you must cancel your booking, please notify us as soon as possible. Please phone first, but we also need a written email notice containing the current date, the date and name of the booking you are cancelling, and your name and (electronic) signature. Cancellation notices received: -30 days or more before your class or course are eligible for a full refund. -8 to 29 days before your class, 50% refund of your deposit or transfer/deferral of your deposit in full to a different class. -7 days or less before a class or course will not be refunded, but the class or course deposit may be transferred towards a future class or course. -No shows will not be eligible for a refund or transfer.
