Service Description
This is an American Canoe Association Rafting (oar and paddle) Instructor Certification Workshop (ICW) which includes an Instructor Development Workshops (IDW), Instructor Certification Examination (ICE) & the new Guide Certification Examiner Endorsement & Assessment. Join Nicole Smedegaard and Instructor Trainer Educator Marcel Bieg for 5 days of collaboration and learning on the Rogue River based out of the OARS Warehouse! This course also meets the standards for an Instructor Update, prior permission required. Please be advised: Participation does not guarantee certification. An Instructor Candidate may be certified, certified at a lower level, or may be "continued" and asked to complete additional work before certification. General Requirements: Fundamentally, it is expected that participants should possess the paddling skills, technical knowledge, rescue ability, teaching ability, group management, and interpersonal skills commensurate with this level of certification prior to presenting themselves for evaluation as Instructor Candidates. Participants must demonstrate knowledge and ability to efficiently/effectively plan and implement appropriate instructional sessions and assessments for different learning styles and ability levels. Prerequisites: ○ Completion of an ACA Level 4: Rafting - skills assessment course, or equivalent skills ○ Completion of an ACA, Rescue III, or similar Swift Water Rescue class in the last 3 years ○ Be an ACA member ○ Have and maintain First Aid and age-appropriate CPR ○ Upon successful completion, register with the Safety Education & Instruction Council Logistics: The course is located in Merlin, Oregon and free on site camping is available. All necessary use of rafts is included or participants may bring their own raft. Participants will need a personal laptop & note taking materials. Candidates must supply all of their own industry standard PPE.

If you must cancel your booking, please notify us as soon as possible. Please phone first, but we also need a written email notice containing the current date, the date and name of the booking you are cancelling, and your name and (electronic) signature. Cancellation notices received: -30 days or more before your class or course are eligible for a full refund. -8 to 29 days before your class, 50% refund of your deposit or transfer/deferral of your deposit in full to a different class. -7 days or less before a class or course will not be refunded, but the class or course deposit may be transferred towards a future class or course. -No shows will not be eligible for a refund or transfer.
